The ricasso is marked with a Crown over C.G The cross guard has a serial number in the V series that was assigned to Cahen-Lyon. Making this a foreign contract bayonet manufactured for Cahen-Lyon. In 1870 due to the shortage of weapons France began to purchase weapons from Liege. The crown over C.G is most likely one of these Liege made bayonets.
