Reference: Mery- Les Sabres-Baionnettes Chassepot Et Remington pg 209
At first glance this appears to be a French M1866. It has the champhered mortise slot. But it has no maker mark on the blade. Only French inspection marks. And there is no front rivet. The hole for the front rivet has been filled with brass on both sides of the grip. Bayonets like this were made by Civilian sources on an emergency basis during the crisis of the Franco-Prussian war. The blade is nice. These are very scarce.
