Reference: Reilly B136A
Made for Whitney rifles with short ramrods to allow for under barrel fitting of the bayonet. Obsolete US socket bayonets were modified by adding a new shank and socket. The mortise slot cut for top stud with the bayonet fitting under the barrel. This is the variation made with the scalloped shoulders of the M1835 bayonet. It has the small US mark indicating it was an early M1835. Dark patina and light encrustation overall. The bridge is cut but its all still there. Very scarce bayonet.
