US M1862 First Model Spencer bayonet n/s.

These first model Spencer sockets are really quite scarce. Made by the Bay State Works in Northhampton- Mass. It is built in the Drake style with a .82 inch bore. This one was tinned and some of the tinning remains intact. This is the third example of this rare socket that I have owned that was tinned. No visible markings. Nice example.
