Reference: Mery- Les Sabres-Baionnettes Chassepot et Remington pg 64-65
Made in January 1869 by Stehelin and Cie at Bittschwiller les Thann. This company was known to have made small numbers of bayonets in December of 1867 through December of 1868. This marking is the latest known with a date of January 1869. The blade is probably a Prussian made export blade. Quite scarce. A nice example. The scabbard is non-matching.
