The very scarce first model type. It has a longer hilt and low muzzle ring as well as a TO slot. These were not interchangeable with the M1891 bayonets and later orders of the M1909 used an adaptor for the rifle to fit the more usually found high ring version. This is a very early example with a serial number in the low 300s. The blade is bright with some minor edge nicks. The wood grip scale is cracked on one side. There are a few dents on the scabbard and an area of corrosion near the tip.
