Type made by the Richmond arsenal and likely others 1863 and later. Unfullered, narrow, triangular blade. Socket for the .69 caliber, bottom stud of the 1835/40 or 1842 muskets. Nice excavated condition. These are made of iron with a steel blade tip. This weld was a weak place and they are often broken there. In this case the tip was broken off and has been nicely replaced. Very scarce confederate socket bayonet.
Condition: Relic
